My NaNoWriMo Challenge

Does it bug anyone else that there are two lowercase letters between W and M, instead of just one?

I’ve known about NaNoWriMo for years, but the thing is: 50,000. That’s a big number, like almost an insurmountable number. I’ve never felt like I wanted to participate, but I always was impressed with those who did manage to at least try.

So this year I am going to do it.

But I’m not writing a novel.

I would write a novel, but honestly I have no good ideas for one, and did not have time to plan out a novel before November. I only decided to do this thing a week ago. I could probably come up with an idea, but not one that I would be happy enough with to expend the amount of time needed for 50,000 words.

But, I am going to write those 50,000 words.

In one month.

All on this site.

Writing it out, this seems like a lot actually.

The real challenge here (I think) is not so much the word count, but instead it will be making sure that I am not just putting down words, to put down words. I need to remain succinct.

I also need to try for the word goal.

In preparation for this month I didn’t outline or write anything out in advance (exception is an outline for this post as it represents my plan for the month). I only have written down ideas of topics for the month.

I have 28 topics listed out, and some are definitely not topics I would normally post about, so we will see if I actually proceed with those topics.

Here Goes Nothing

A thanks in advance to my wife, who will be losing out some time with me this month as I work towards this goal.

I’ll be keeping a word count tally here, if you want to follow along.

Here I go.
