One thing Members regularly read about is new gear I pick up and items I am eyeing. I tend to note new things I am testing or trying at the end of most of my Member Journals. I went back through the last 8 months or so to take a look at the gear I’ve mentioned and pulled out a selection to share.
Here’s the list, and a few comments on some:
- Benchmade Tagged Out
- Arc’Teryx Small Bird Cap: I’ve become a huge fan of this cap, as it breathes well and looks pretty good. I wear it rucking and on the way to and from hikes. It’s really solid, and the logo is inoffensive.
- Garmin InReach Mini 2
- Grayl Ultrapress Ti
- Grill Rescue
- Wy’east Daypack: I have yet to pick this up, but there’s something really quirky about this bag which makes me want it.
- Florence Marine X Expedition Shirt and Pants: for members I went deep on the shirt (and hiking shirts in general), suffice to say that not everything I buy works out for me.
- Mountain Hardware Canyon Shirt: but some items do work out.
- Hydrapack Recon Bottle
- MKM Malga 5
- Clockworkpi uConsole: one of the most absurd things I bought, and yet I love looking at how I don’t use it.
- AirCard E: the card form factor is much better than the little pucks that Apple makes.
- Millenial Birkin: I forgot about this, but am glad I looped back to look at it, but no I did not buy one.
- Keychron Q60 Max: closest you can get to HHKB without buying the real thing. It also weighs a metric ton (that’s less than a ton-ton, right?).
- Firewalla Gold SE
- Offhand Shoulder Bag
- Wythe Sweatshirt: this is a stupidly nice sweatshirt.
- Hyperlite Mountain Gear Daybreak 17: about damned time, right? Damned good too.
- Montana Knife Company Blackfoot 2.0: this knife arrived impossibly sharp — as impossibly sharp as they are hard to get. Why are small fixed blades so fun?
I love writing these little blurbs every week, with some notes about why and what I think, and I’d love if you joined to read the weekly update. (If you do sign up, come to the Discord, man I love that place.)
