Kyrgies Indoor Wool Slides

This might be the perfect slipper.

Note: this item was provided for review.

My new home office is the coldest room in the house, and because of that, I’ve had cold feet a lot of the days I’ve worked in this office. Add to that my recent move from muggy and hot Houston, to cool and dry Boulder — it’s a recipe for needing slippers. Thankfully, Kyrgies sent over their Indoor Wool Slides for me to test out, and they might have found a customer for life.

I have no complaints about these.

Materials & Fit

There’s a vast array of slippers Kyrgies sell, and each is slightly different. This variant uses a leather sole, with a wool felt upper. It’s designed to work as a slide, where there’s nearly no back to them.

Kyrgies markets this variant as their lightest and coolest wearing pair, though I’ve had no issues with my feet being cool wearing them here in the cold. These are handmade in Kyrgyzstan.

All in all, it’s a nice wool with nice craftsmanship — all around good stuff.

Wear

I’ve never been happy with a single pair of slippers, until I wore these. Typically, I find that slippers either wear too warm or cool, they aren’t easy to slip your foot into, or they fall off easily when you are walking around. They have too much traction, too little traction, or they are uncomfortable to stand and work at a desk in.

None of those issues are present here.

After the first day, I had zero issues stepping directly into these without needing to help finagle some part of the slipper around my foot. For how I wear and use slippers, this is the biggest issue I tend to have: I need to be able to put these on without it being a thing. Check that off the list.

Next, when wearing the slippers, I want my feet to be comfortable. I’ve found with other slippers, that I need to take them off from time to time as my feet overheat. Or, that they are simply not doing much to keep my feet from frosting over. The Kyrgies hit a nice spot here, my feet (with socks) stay warm — just under the line where I might want to take them off. And my feet have never felt too cold when wearing these.

Then comes the standing comfort, since I often stand at my desk, I’ve found over the years that slippers generally lack support and bother my feet more than wearing nothing. As the bottoms of these are effectively only leather and wool, they start to form to your foot after a few days. Once you hit that mark, I’ve had no discomfort standing for half a day in these. They are not cushioned, but they are stable and comfortable.

The biggest issue I had with my last pair of slippers, is that they would often fly off my feet when I was walking down stairs. I don’t know why, but this not only drove me nuts, but was rather dangerous. So while I can easily step into these Kyrgies, I’ve had no issues with them staying securely on my feet as I walk around the house. I can step in and out when I want, and they stay on my feet the rest of the time — seems simple, but not easy to find a slipper which does just that.

I suspect there’s two reasons this works: one the foot bed molding to your feet helps keep them secure along with the general friction from the wool. The second is that the sizing hits my feet perfectly in these (I bought my standard size).

The last bit is the sole. I opted to get the leather sole, as I don’t wear slippers out of the house. It’s had a very nice balance of traction for me. There’s no slip on the hard woods or carpet. At the same time, it doesn’t feel like you are wearing a shoe in the house like many of the rubber soled slippers I have had previously did.

All in all, these are exactly what I was hoping they would be. They nail everything.

Overall

These are easily my perfect slipper, and I encourage you to get a pair as well. There’s different weights of materials, designs, and soles to fit any use. I’m a big fan.
