Filson released its new Ranger Short Cruiser ($195) which is a variant of their fantastic Tin Cloth Short Lined Cruiser ($350). There’s a few key differences with the Ranger variant, which is a riff that Filson has done similar models of in the past (these tend to be short lived):
- 7-oz. dry-waxed fabric from British Millerain, instead of the Oil-Waxed Tin Cloth this will be lighter weight, and effectively ‘not greasy’. This is more aligned with most waxed jackets other brands sell, which will serve most people well if they are wearing this in a city.
- It’s unlined, which will help it breathe better.
- It has a snap front, which will make it easy to fasten and unfasten.
- It has a ‘trim cut’ which will remove the boxy feel of a standard Filson jacket and give a more modern cut.
What it does retain are the excellent looks. The Short Cruisers are some of my favorites, I already snagged this in Navy, since I have a Green and Dark Tan short cruiser on hand. I can’t wait. It’s a stellar price too.
